Last time I wrote about Advent which can mean arrival. A few weeks have passed and now we are anticipating the Birth of Christ, on December 25th? Or are we?
The other night the Charlie Brown Christmas was viewed by many people that have watched this portrait of Christmas for many years. But, I don't know how many parents viewed it with their children.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:
A Charlie Brown Christmas is a musical animated television special based on the comic strip Peanuts, by Charles M. Schultz. Produced by Lee Mendelson and directed by Bill Melendez , the program made its debut on CBS on December 9, 1965. In the special, lead character Charlie Brown finds himself depressed despite the onset of the cheerful holiday season. Lucy suggests he direct a school Christmas play, but he is both ignored and mocked by his peers,
The story touches on the over-commercialization and secularism of Christmas, and serves to remind viewers of the true meaning of Christmas (the birth of Jesus Christ).
Well, almost fifty years have passed since the debut of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Have we improved our knowledge of the true meaning of Christmas over these passed forty-nine years OR
are we becoming even more secularized by anticipating the sugar-plums that are dancing over our heads as portrayed in the book "The Night Before Christmas," that was read to us as children.
I don't believe that God in His infinite mercy would deny our children all the wonderful aspects of the Christmas holiday. Think about how the way people act during this season. Most people that I talk to; whether family, friends as well as strangers; have a happy glow about them and show more kindness and toleration then they might throughout the year.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could keep that spirit or glow about us in everyday life. It's not impossible folks; because "All things are possible with God." Think about it. The most important thing He asks of us is to LOVE one one another. love v, LOVE is a verb. ACTION is required.
With His help; we, as individuals can make this happen. Try it you will like it.
So folks' please remember, No los pierdas de vista/ Don't lose sight of Him. and in the words of Tiny Tim, "God Bless you each and everyone! Merry Christmas Folks from me to yours.
